Amalfi & Sorrento

AmalfiAmalfi is a city in a striking natural environment under the steep cliffs on the south-west coast of Italy. Between the ninth and eleventh centuries, it was the seat of a powerful maritime republic. In the heart of the city, the “Cathedral of Sant’Andrea”, of the Arab-Norman era, is characterized by a striped Byzantine facade. The “Museo Arsenale di Amalfi” is a medieval construction site, now an exhibition space.

SorrentoSorrento is a coastal town on the Sorrento Peninsula, located in front of the bay of Naples, in the south-western part of Italy. Built on the cliff that separates it from its crowded port, Sorrento is famous for its panoramic view of the sea and Piazza Tasso, dotted with coffee. The historic center is a maze of narrow streets where the church of San Francesco is located, a 14th century building with a tranquil cloister.
